What are the American Advertising Awards?
The American Advertising Awards is the industry's largest and most representative advertising competition. The competition is open to all marketing and advertising professionals, including social media marketers and advertisers. There are a variety of categories to enter so you can find the perfect one for your work.
Why should you enter?
You should consider entering the American Advertising Awards competition for many reasons. Here are just a few:
Gain recognition for your work. Winning an ADDY award is a prestigious honor that can help you advance your career.
Showcase your work to a local, regional, and national audience. The American Advertising Awards are a three-tier competition that provides unparalleled exposure to advertising professionals in the Inland Empire, Southern California, and nationally.
Network with other professionals. The American Advertising Awards are an excellent opportunity to meet other advertising professionals and build relationships.
Support the advertising industry. Proceeds from the American Advertising Awards support the AAF and its programs, which help to enhance the advertising industry.
How can you enter?
You must first create an account on the AAF website (link below). Once you have registered, you can submit your work online. The deadline to enter is January 24, 2025.
The American Advertising Awards Competition has two specific categories for social media marketers and advertisers:
Social media single execution
Social media campaign
This category is for creative executions of brand advertising, marketing, and/or promotion across social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter (X). You may also consider entering media under Branded Content & Entertainment for Online/Interactive. This category is for original content that may or may not directly promote the brand or product but is created on behalf of the brand.
In addition, social media may also be entered into the category of Online & Interactive Campaign. This category is for campaigns using multiple online or interactive mediums. What are some examples of successful social media campaigns?
There are many great examples of successful social media campaigns. Here are a few that have won ADDY awards in recent years:
The "Ice Bucket Challenge"
This campaign used social media to raise awareness for ALS. The challenge was simple: people were asked to dump a bucket of ice water over their heads and then challenge others to do the same. The campaign went viral and raised over $100 million for ALS research.
The "Share a Coke" Campaign
This campaign encouraged people to share photos of themselves drinking Coca-Cola with personalized labels. The campaign was a huge success and helped to increase Coca-Cola's sales.
The "Old Spice Guy" Campaign
This campaign featured a series of humorous videos that went viral on social media and helped revitalize the Old Spice brand.
